Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is this place?
missioncommission is a community dedicated to giving artists of all sorts a place where they can show they are available for commissions!
2. Sounds nice. How does it work?
Once a month, I will make a post with a variety of sub-threads attached to it. Those sub-threads will be for different types of commissions (illustrations, writing, etc). An artist will find a category that suits their commission and post their information there. This will include how to contact them and when their commissions close.
3. I'm an artist. What sort of information should I put down?
Don't worry. For every monthly commission post, I will include a form that people can copy-paste into their comment. It will have all the basic information that one would include on a commission posted anywhere else. Other information can be added on, the basic stuff just has to always be included.
4. What kinds of commission categories will you have?
♢ Illustration
♢ Writing
♢ Animation
♢ Graphics (icons, coloring, etc)
♢ Coding
♢ Translation
♢ Adoptables
♢ Crafts
These are just the things that I have planned currently! If there are other commission types that you think would benefit from being included in the monthly posts, let me know. This is meant for the community, so of course I'm going to listen to members of it.
5. I do NSFW commissions. Will those be allowed?
Absolutely! I plan on making a separate monthly posts for NSFW commission types. They will be age restricted, although that will mean that people will have to have an account to see the contents of such postss.
6. I'm opening commissions because of an emergency, and it's on a time limit! How could this comm help me?
At the very top of the category threads, an "Emergency Commission" thread will exist, and people who need cash quick can post there. You can also get in contact with me, and I will try to spread the word on places such as my own plurk.
7. Who are you, anyway, and how can we get into contact with you?
I'm James, and I decided to make this comm after I saw more than a few of my friends get heartbroken at Tumblr's bad life choices ruining the base they'd been so careful to make. This isn't just a "follower" sort of thing, this was a "I rely on commissions for money" thing.
You can reach me at the following places:
♢ here on dreamwidth, at "sassybird"
♢ over on plurk, at trilies
♢ if tumblr hasn't died yet by the time you're reading this, you can also reach me at trilies there
♢ over on Gaia Online (yes, there), you can find me at "James Phobos"
I do have a Discord account, however, I don't use the app very much due to rural chromebook internet problems, so I won't waste your time with giving that out here. I also am not inclined to give away my email address so freely, so I'm not putting that on here either. If I get any other accounts elsewhere that could be used as a form of contact, I will be sure to update this list.
8. My commissions are always open. Do I have to post in every single monthly post?
Not at all. For things such as permanently open commissions and even people who have etsy or redbubble stores, I have masterposts that will be up and which people can post a permanent top level on.
If something ever happens and you have to close your commissions/store, just let me know and we can delete the top level for you on the respective masterpost.
I have a question that you didn't address in this FAQ.
Then please feel free to ask down in the comments! Anonymous comments are on, so you are free to ask anything even without having an account.

However, your question here shows even more clear interest in this sort of Customer Craig's List thing. I'd rather people not post in the monthly posts, because that is mainly meant to be an area for artists.
Instead, I might consider the possibility of another permanent post but for the customers, where they can put down what they're looking for, what their budget is, etc. Does that sound like something you would be interested in? I might bring it up in the comm plurk and see what other people think.

I can certainly understand wanting to keep this as a forum with the focus on the artists, and to keep things as simple and clear as possible.
I think a separate post for customers would be great! I would be interested to use it. And hopefully it would benefit the artists just as much as the customers, if the artists can look through and see what the trends in demands are, and to be able to directly offer their services to fill a request.
Thanks for your reply!
No matter what happens with this idea in the future, I'll still keep checking in on this comm!
